It is said that it takes 21 days to form a habit. It has been a bit more than that since most of the churches closed to public gatherings of which many (not all) switched to online services only. Lately I have been thinking and wondering how this pandemic will affect church attendance. In the western world America is unique when it comes to religiosity and the number of practicing Christians. The number of people identifying as Christians (specifically people who attend services regularly) is exponentially higher than in most other similar countries. At the same time I am often reminded the words my pastor says: “we are UK twenty years back”. This coming Sunday the church where I am a member will hold its first gathering in over 2 months. I will be there and I am very curious to see how many people will come back and re-gather every Sunday going forward.
